The INTRODUCTION TO RACKET PAINTING teaches you everything you need to know to start creating your very own custom paint jobs. 

Don't let the course title fool you, we will be going into lots of detail in this course. The key to a great paint job is preparation and fundamentals and that's exactly what we teach you in this course. 

We start by looking at how to design and plan a paint job, then we lead into preparing the racket for painting. 

Once you're ready to start I show you how to properly sand the racket so that it doesn't get damaged. Applying primer is also a key foundation of a great paint job.

Of course we will also spend time on the technique to spraying the rackets perfectly and creating the design and finish you desire!

What Exactly Do You Need?

This course is created so that you only need a few items to start learning!

  • A space where you can sand and paint bearing in mind that you will make some mess.

  • A mouse sander and sand paper in grits; 120 / 320 / 500 / 2000

  • A tack cloth

  • Masking tapes and fine-line tape

  • A hook and somewhere to hang the racket for drying

  • Light based primer spray can

  • Some CLEAR Water Slide decal paper

  • High Pressure spray cans in various colours of your choice, perhaps black, white and one other to start with.

  • Spray can 2K Gloss clear coat

  • Spray can of Matte clear coat

Get to know your instructor:

In 2015 I founded Unstrung Customs together with my two partners in order to create a "different" type of stringing and customising company. From there we developed the business and continue to grow to the brand that you know today. Along the way we've been fortunate to string and customise for many top pros. My colleague takes care of Andy Murray's racket when he's home training and I'm fortunate enough to string Novak Djokovic's frames when he's at his training base.
